TAX INCENTIVE LISTS
TAX INCENTIVE LISTS -
Notice the well known restaurant. We've all been there and witnessed how empty and blighted the place is. How could they ever survive without 5 million of your dollars? (All sarcasm if you didn't catch that). How does that sit in your stomach (no pun intended)
I've been asked many times for "proof" of the giveaways or just documents showing they are actually doing it. Here are a couple to help give you some numbers. Keeping in mind, these are a little dated and well before BluHawk and other incentives in progress. Then of course there is the $200 million that will go to Brookridge if my opponent and a few others remain in office.
I usually quote around $500 million of your tax money has been given away by this council as that is the latest round number I've been provided. However, even as this shows well above $500 million BluHawk hasn't even hit the list. Brookridge is also attempting to get pushed thru before any seats change and lobbyists still hold your checkbook. By that time we would be looking at $1 Billion and rapidly climbing with no end in sight.
WE MUST TAKE BACK THE CHECKBOOK THIS TUESDAY!

10 REASONS OVERLAND PARK NEEDS YOUR VOTE!
10 SIMPLE YET SIGNIFICANT REASONS OVERLAND PARK NEEDS YOUR VOTE NOV 5TH!
-$500 Million in tax incentive giveaways in the last 5 years
-$147 Million proposed for Brookridge that the developer wants approved before the end of the year in the event the public hopefully ends the giveaways this Nov 5th. The new council would still have ways to stop it next year so your vote is critical!
-Overland Park is currently operating on our reserve funds due to giving away revenue and simple reckless spending. This leave us extremely at risk in the event of a recession.
-Sales tax exceeds 10% in many areas of the city due to more developer giveaways by allowing them to keep portions of the sales tax.
-With current spending levels, my opponents has said he can see no other choice but to ask the residents to increase their own mill levy as soon as 2020. Simply to pay for their own mismanagement.
-We MUST allow residents to speak at council meeting and let their voice be heard. If this council was going to do that, there wouldn't be excuses, it would already be done.
-We must return to a council free of political influence by both lobbyists and other politicians.
-Road maintenance continues to fall behind and to complicate this matter the 1/8 sales tax that funds roads is set to expire this next term. How much are they going to ask for this time after letting developers push sales tax to almost 12% in some areas? More Chip Seal? Is that what we want?
-Our Police force is significantly understaffed and this council has kicked that can down the road for years. This can not continue. Response times in Ward 6 have been reported as high as 15 minutes due to times of "blackouts" where not one single officer is available for the call. -
Last but not least, OUR CURRENT LEADERSHIP* DOES NOT EVEN RECOGNIZE THESE ISSUES. THEY CAN'T SOLVE PROBLEMS THEY DON'T SEE! Listen to them campaign. They have zero plans to address any of these issues. According to them they have made everything perfect and continue to press on with ForwardOP, which includes plans such as a $350 million dollar "green" city hall. I am all for FowardOP, however, I am also all for owning a Ferrari on a government salary....
CANDIDATES THAT ARE INFLUENCE FREE AND STAND FOR RESPONSIBLE SPENDING OF YOUR TAX MONEY...

WARD 2 - ROGER TARBUTTON
WARD 3 - STEPHAN GLETZER
WARD 4 - DAN OSMAN
WARD 5 - DR. FARIS FARASSATI (INCUMBENT)*

Read one of many interview that are beginning to be published. As the election gets closer, more and more interviews are being conducted different organizations. Many will appear in print and a few even in video.
You can read this interview conducted by the KLC Journal that will also appear in print version.
These interviews will begin to better contrast the candidates and their views, as well as their enthusiasm for action or lack thereof.
I also encourage everyone to visit a both candidates websites, make the choice that best suits you, and vote in this important election for the future of Overland Park
